What it really takes to lose weight.

Heya Beautiful,

There’s a fabulous rule called the 80/20 rule. Officially it’s called the Pareto Principle.

You may have heard of it.

In short, it’s that most benefits or feel-goods will come from 20% of what you do.

In terms of clothing, you’ll generally wear, re-wear and LOVE 20% of your wardrobe. In terms of working out, that 20% effort of getting out the door (even though it may FEEL like 1000000% effort some days 🙂 ) is going to give you most of your results (once you’re out, the rest of the workout is MUCH easier!).

And these ratio’s got me thinking about the ratio’s I’ve pulled together for health, wellness, happiness and weight loss. And today, I want to share them with you.

Once you know these, you’ll know where to focus your efforts and exactly how to get the body YOU want (and CAN have).

So, here they are. The real numbers to get to the health, wellness, happiness and bod you want:

15% of your body-changing will happen based on knowing what to eat. And alongside that, what to avoid at the same time that you’re boosting in the good stuff.

5% of your body-changing (we’re talking weight loss specifically here) will happen because of your workouts (although most people think that if they pedal to the metal during workouts, they’ll suddenly lose every extra pound and buff up).

And 80% of your weight loss will happen because of your motivation and determination in staying the course.

Now, breaking that down a little further, the 80/20 rule applies again:

If you stay motivated through the long haul, 80% of your body transformation will happen based entirely on what you’re eating.

And 20% will happen because of your workouts.

I wanted to let you know that today, because I think it’s so important in this sometimes crazy world of pushing, force and restriction, to know with certainty that food is what makes the difference, time and time again, for every person who’s lost weight.

And I can say that so certainly, because whilst marathon training, I lost an exact 0 pounds, and only slightly toned up (and I was busting my butt with training runs that ran from 5 – 30 km long over 16 weeks).

Changing what I ate, however, is what got me here: at my lightest, brightest, happiest and most radiant.

I wanted to let you know those numbers so you had a real idea of what it was going to take.

So, you’ll need mega-motivation. Which is why in creating all of my programs, I made motivation the main focus, because I know that’s what will create your results.

Now,  I’d love to hear in the comments below: which area do you need to start focusing on to improve your health (the motivation piece, the workout piece or the eating piece)?

You can do it,
Nathalie
